BOARD OF TRUSTEES

I am happy to introduce The Barbados Parkinson’s Trust and Support Group, formerly known as the Barbados Parkinson’s Awareness Walk (BPAW). We are now a registered charity in Barbados, with a Trustee Board of 7 people.

Dear Trustees,

With the registration of The Barbados Parkinson’s Trust, we have achieved the first step in our long journey. Thank you to the professionals and staff at the law firm of Mr Leslie F. Haynes, QC who in a timely manner made this formidable journey possible.

I would like to welcome you to the Barbados Parkinson’s Trust, and thank you for consenting to join the board. I am honoured to have your invaluable input as we move forward on our path to combat the ravages of Parkinson’s disease in Barbados.

We have an outstanding group of board members who have already contributed or given of their time, either by active participation or invaluable advice which made our Inaugural Parkinson’s Awareness walk a major success.

Our goal is to be persistent in raising awareness about this chronic disease, which has either affected our lives directly, our loved ones, or those, whose lives will be transformed by a recent diagnosis. My desire is that we will all be active participants in garnering as much support, seeking the necessary funding needed to further research or to be of assistance to those challenged by Parkinson’s.

My expectations for this charitable organisation, is total transparency in all matters, a sharing of ideas, an unselfish attitude, and a helping hand where it is deemed necessary.

I look forward to an insightful exchange with all of you.
